What's in Your HUD with ImAllinHoney

We sat down with German poker player ImAllinHoney to get his thoughts on poker software.  ImAllinHoney started out grinding 18- and 180-man turbo sit and gos and now plays mostly multi-table tournaments.
 
PokerSoftware:  What poker software are you currently using or have used in the past?
 
ImAllInHoney: I started with PokerTracker 3 and am currently using PokerTracker 4, which I enjoy a lot. I once tried out Holdem Manager, but somehow I had issues and did not manage to set the software up properly.
 
PokerSoftware: What do you like best about PokerTracker 4?
 
ImAllinHoney:  I really enjoy the software's design and the interface is great. It is easy to use - and I am by no means a computer or software geek - and I simply never have any problems with it. The tracking works fine for every aspect; even Zoom, Rush, graphs, and combined aliases work awesomely.

Also, the PokerTracker support team is great and they are always working on bugs and improvements at a great pace. Another thing I really like is that you receive two PokerTracker licenses, which you can uninstall on one PC to use on another as often as you please. This gives great freedom to grind in multiple places.
 
PokerSoftware:  How is your HUD set up line by line?
 
ImAllinHoney:  Notes / Player Name / AF / M / Hands
VPIP / PFR / 3bet / F3bet
cbet / Fold to cbet / ATS / WTSD
 
PokerSoftware:  Can you give us an example of when your HUD helps you with real-time decision-making?
 
ImAllinHoney:  I think you have to be quite cautious with stats the HUD provides, especially with the low samples you deal with in MTTs. I always felt like besides the obvious VPIP/PFR stats, it is often overseen by beginners how crucial 3bet and Fold to 3bet are because finding the right 3bet spots is key deep in tournaments to chip up with little risk. So, if you have someone to your right who folds a lot to 3bets, you should definitely punish that, but then nit it up if a 4bet comes.
 
Also, ATS is really important when it comes to the spot where play is push or fold and you really want to adjust your calling ranges depending on your opponent's willingness to push lightly.
 
PokerSoftware:  Do you ever have to go outside the box and use pop-ups or any other information not directly in your HUD?
 
ImAllinHoney:  I only use pop-ups on very rare occasions. I use it if I have a sample on an opponent that comes from MTTs I played prior to the one where I am now sitting and feel it really does not add up with his current playing style. Then, I look up the "This Session Only" stat.
 
Also, I might look up c/r or b/f frequencies on the flop, turn, and river, but those need a sample that is hard to come by given how often players will reach those streets. So, I decided to not bloat up my HUD with those anymore.
 
PokerSoftware:  Do you think HUDs are good for the game?  Should they be allowed?
 
ImAllinHoney:  Phew, that's a tough one. I think there are pros and cons for that. On one side, it definitely increases my edge given that not everyone uses them. On the other side, one may say that you should be able to keep track of how everyone is playing because that is a poker skill in itself. HUDs are really weighing online poker toward math, while live poker just feels like a whole other sport given the circumstances.
